In Ibsen's A Doll's House, many problems and situations arise from the marriage between Nora and Torvald. They have a very strange relationship that ends up in them splitting up at the end of the story. Nora and Torvald had many flaws in their marriage. One of them was that Torvald never really treated Nora like she was equal to him. He would resort to calling her childish or inhuman names such as "songbird" or "lark" and sometimes even "squirell".
